English Teacher Disappears
Popular English Teacher Loida Garrido has gone missing.
Mrs Garrido, who works at IES Cortes de Cádiz School in El Molar, was last seen on Tuesday afternoon, walking towards her house carrying a bag full of homework. When she did not go to school on Wednesday morning, her friend went to her house to look for her. The bag of homework was found on a table next to a note which said: “This homework is brilliant. My students now have perfect English. My work here is done”.
Her neighbours told police that they had heard loud music on Saturday evening. Her student Amanda Huggenkiss said she had walked Mrs Garrido’s house and thought she was having a party.
After a short investigation, local police discovered that Mrs Garrido had taken all the money out of her bank account and it is believed she is now on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean.

SESSION 4:
THE PASSIVE VOICE
At the most basic level, the active voice emphasizes the person or agent who performs an action, in short, the “actor.” The passive voice emphasizes the recipient of the action or sometimes the action itself.
We will use one or the other depending on what we want to emphasize, the actor or the action and we tend necessarily use when:
the actor is unknown. JFK was assassinated. By whom? I don't know. That's why I use the passive form.
the actor is evident. The thief has finally been arrested....by the police...who else?
I don't want the actor to be known. The window was broken...by me...but, who wants to be scolded?
Please watch this presentation about Unit 12 grammatical content: The Passive Voice and do the exercises at the end.
2. Read the explanation below for further information and do exercises 1-4.
