3. Read this listicle about the best space movies ever. Do you agree with the ranking? Write a paragraph explaining which in your opinion would be the best three and why.
SESSION 2:
SYMPATHIZING VS EMPATHIZING
Unfortunately, nearly everyone experiences some level of grief and discomfort in their life. As that person comes to terms with the situation they are in, they may lean on their friends and family for support, and you might be expected to sympathize with them. You can reassure someone that you care about them and sympathize with their situation by talking with them or helping them during this difficult time in their life.
1. Go to page 124 and do exercises 1-3 in FUNCTIONS: Sympathising about past situations.
BUT, don't confuse sympathy with empathy!
2. Watch this video to know the difference and answer the questions below:
a. What's the main difference between empathy and sympathy? Which is more positive and why?
b. What are the main four qualities of empathy?
c. How do empathetic people react to somebody's negative thoughts as opposed to sympathetic people?
