The COVID-19 pandemic-induced lockdowns and related global recession
of 2020 have created a highly uncertain outlook for the labour market and accelerated the arrival of
the future of work.
1. Watch the following video and answer the questions:
How has Covid-19 impacted in the future of jobs? Explain the two reasons.
What will displace 85 million jobs worldwide in the next five years?
What seems to be the solution to the new types of jobs that will emerge soon?
What have companies realized after a few decades of research? What's their most valuable asset?
Which are the jobs of tomorrow mentioned in the video? Do some research and explain what skills are needed.
How will companies help their employees adapt to the new needs smoothly?
How in your opinion should Educational Systems adapt to cater the needs of future jobs?

THE FUTURE OF JOBS IN SPAIN:
WILL YOU END UP BITING THE BULLET?
Spain's economy is recovering but there still aren't enough jobs for university graduates. Many have to take temporary, poorly paid jobs to make ends meet. Living costs are high, so a lot of graduates have to live with their parents. Is it the same in other countries?
1. Listen to Maddie's friends Joe, Lucy, Kate and Harry talking about the future of jobs in the UK and how they have adapted to the new requirements. Summarize their view in a sentence.
As we saw in the previous session, we must address a dual imperative: safeguarding both lives and livelihoods. To succeed at this task, we must, first, craft effective policies that could accelerate Spain’s recovery and lessen the financial impact on individuals and business and, second, use the crisis to catalyze change and rethink the fundamental structure of companies, sectors, and the overall economy.
