LIFE AND HOW TO LIVE IT
Life can be very challenging and sometimes we may feel that we are the target of all critics! Nobody seems to understand us but, is that really happening? or is it only in our mind?? Maybe it is time to put things into perspective, or compare our problem or view to other things so that it can be accurately and fairly judged. SESSION 2:
LIFE'S UPS AND DOWNS
“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life:
it goes on.” – Robert Frost
Change happens and life goes on even though we are stuck, that's the truth. Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher said that "life is flux". Sometimes changes in life seem to come like large crashing waves as in the image above, creating a sense of urgency and panic. At other times changes may feel like a calm flowing river, but waters are always moving.
The ups come when pieces seem to fit perfectly. And it is then when life feels great. But, the downs inevitably come. And they feel really really low after a period of success. It’s crucial to remember during those low periods that you have felt real happiness before and you will feel it again and above all, be patient. Accept reality with open arms. This does not mean necessarily that you like the situation but you stay present while they are there, fully aware of discomfort and your possibilities to overcome it.
Listen to this podcast. You will hear two people talking about the possibility to overcome a really bad situation:
It is a rather long one so draw a T-chart and write the key ideas on the left and the details on the right. Then, summarize the 20 tips they give to cope with the ups and downs of life.
SESSION 3:

SESSION 4:
TERM'S PROJECT
Last week, we started brainstorming words related to our feelings and emotions. So, today, it's time to get down to actually write your five-line poems or paragraphs. Some of you rushed and sent me some ideas, but they were simply drafts, they can't be your final project, they were not concise enough or didn't reflect any feeling, etc... In summary, give it a little bit more thought!
Remember, five lines that convey how you feel, avoid being too wordy, extra words. Concentrate on content words, words that are full of meaning. Use the words you brainstormed. Include one strategically in each line or verse and think how you could complete the idea. Sometimes one word reflects more than a whole sentence.
Brainstorming, example 1:
Brainstorming, example 2:
Here you have some prompts that may help you find the words and be more specific:
What is something you would like to see in the world that doesn't yet exist?
What would you like to actualize in your life or in the world at large?
What would you like to envision for your future moving forward from this difficult past year?
Then, what will you send me today??
