SESSION 1:
EVAU practice
If you are sitting the EVAU test this school year, you will thank being given some tips for success. Fortunately, there are no secrets and there's plenty of information and sample papers with their key published. Before taking the exam, you will have done hundreds of them!
The exam is composed of five questions with a total score of 10. You will find the punctuation of each question included in the instructions.
Question 1: Written Comprehension (2 points). You will have to decide if two statements are true or false and copy literally the sentence from the text that justifies your answer. No marks will be given for just true/false answers.
Question 2: Written Comprehension and Written Production (2 points). Two open questions. that will test your ability to understand and paraphrase the text, that is, to express the ideas from the text in your own words. You can't copy whole sentences/phrases from the text. If there is a synonym, you need to use it. You will be given up to 0.5 for comprehension and up to 0.5 for grammaticality and good spelling.
Question 3: This question tests your mastering of vocabulary (1 point). You will have to locate the synonym (same meaning, same speech part) for a number of words in the text.
Question 4: This measures your competence in grammar and structures. There will be four sentences. In the first three you will have to fill in the gaps with the right form of a verb, degree of the adjetive, etc. Each correct answer will be given 0.25 points. In the fourth sentence, you normally have to do some rephrasing or key word transformation. The last sentence is worth 0.5 points.
Question 5: Written Production (3 points) You will have to write a 150-to-200-word opinion or argumentative essay. 1.5 will be assigned to grammaticality, vocabulary, spelling and another 1.5 to maturity, order, coherence and creativity. The correctors will use this rubric as a reference:
Every year Spanish universities publish a sample test and call out teachers in Bachillerato for a meeting. In this meeting, the speaker comments on the different features of the exam and answers the teachers' questions. This happened yesterday, so it comes fresh out of the oven. Here it is ! This is 2021 sample test for English. As always, you have two options. Choosing the right option, the one you feel more confident with, is 50% of success. A quick skimming of both texts can help. This time, you will take both. It would be a good idea to use a timer and control how long it takes to finish each.
