SESSION 1:
Culture: "The Seven Wonders of the World"
Talking about lists...there is a very famous list that you will possibly know and it is the list of the 7 wonders of the world. The Egyptian pyramids are the only monuments on the list of ancient wonders of the world that still exist today.
The 7 wonders of the ancient world have been a hallmark in popular culture for a long time. The original list was made by a pair of ancient historians named Herodotus and Callimachus of Cyrene, they lived in different times but both worked at the Museum of Alexandria, one of the first museums in history, and decided to compile a list of the most well-known monuments that existed at that time.
The new wonders were chosen in 2007 through an online contest put on by a Swiss company, the New 7 Wonders Foundation, in which more than tens of millions of people voted. All are Unesco World Heritage sites.
2. What makes a site a wonder? What would you put on this list?
3. Read the text on page 94 of your books.
How is this new list different from the previous one?
What makes each of these wonders remarkable?
4. Do exercises 1-4 related to this text.
SESSION 2:
Spain is one of the most beautiful places in the world, full of historical and natural wonders. If you had to make a list of wonders in Spain, what places would you choose?
For me, the Alhambra of Granada would be number one. The inscription that appears above the main gate where beggars used to solicit the passers-by says: “Give him alms, woman, for there is no pain so terrible in life as to be blind in Granada.”, which gives us an idea of the indescriptible beauty of the place.
1. Watch this little documentary on The Alhambra and complete the sentences taken from the video:
long version:
1. Sprawling at the foot of the snow-capped Sierra Mountains, Granada is a .................... city of about 300,000 people.
2. Once the grandest city in Spain, its power ................ and glory faded.
3. Nowhere else does the splendor of that civilization, Al-Andalus, shine so brightly.
For two centuries, until 1492, Granada reigned as the capital of a dwindling Moorish empire.
4. While the rest of Europe ..................... through much of the Middle Ages, the Moorish civilization was wide awake.
5. The math necessary to construct this palace would have .................... Europeans of that age.

7. His royal summer retreat, ................... and bursting with water, was the closest thing on earth to the Quran's description of heaven.
8. This victory helped provide the ....................... for Spain's Golden Age. Within a generation, Spain's king, Charles V, was the most powerful man in the world.
9. And back downtown, Granada's cathedral ..................... — also built shortly after the re-conquest — declares triumph as well.
10. The .................. altar is all about that Christian triumph: Christ triumphs over sin… and Christendom triumphs over Islam.

SESSION 3:
TRUTH BE TOLD
Today we are going to play this game called Truth Be Told which involves taking one half of a sentence and thinking of a way to complete it. In this case, I have chosen Conditional Sentences. In class, we will play it as a group. Those who are at home can also play it by printing this pdf, cutting the halves, shuffling them and piling them upside down. Or you can either meet a friend through videoconference and play it together. You can even use a timer, the person that can write a sentence using the right tense before the other wins.
So, you need a set of cards and a sheet of paper or your notebook. You draw the first card and read it out aloud, guess the type of conditional sentence it is and write the rest of the sentence using the appropriate tense. Remember:
1st: present-future
2nd: past-conditional
3rd: past perfect-conditional perfect
.....Teacher, how many sentences do I have to write????? The answer is easy....THERE ARE 54, YOU HAVE AN HOUR, so as many as you can, never less than the half (27), capito?
SESSION 4:

HUMAN EXPERIENCE BINGO
This is a get to know you game. We need to compile a list of 25 activities that a person might have had. Write one activity in a small piece of paper and give it to the teacher. For example:
...Gone scuba diving (check I have used past participles)
...Eaten sushi
...Made a delicious meal
You need to choose five of these activities and then choose somebody in the class and ask him/her if they have the same activity. You can use expressions like:
Wil/ Would you..... and the activity ?
Have you ever..... and the activity ?
You cross the activity if you find someone who has chosen the same activity as you. Once that you have found five different people with the same activity you say Bingo!
(In case you are home: You should write 25 human activities on a piece of paper, choose five of these activities and use WhatsApp to ask your partners individually. Then write a summary of your questions and your partners' answers)
