RETELLING A STORY 1ºESO

Updated: Jul 5

Hi, little pumpkins!

Today we will learn how to retell a story, sequencing and the use of transition words like first, second, then, at the end... Sequencing is one of many skills that contributes to your ability to understand what you read. When you are able to sequence a story you can identify its different parts — the beginning, middle, and end — and also retell the events in the order they occurred. Sequencing is a key reading comprehension strategy, and contributes to your problem-solving ability across subjects.

1. Learn this transition or signal words that indicate a sequence (first, second, last).

2. Try with this yummy recipe Pancakes! Order the steps. Use transition words:

...............Add the flour and whisk.

...............Cook the pancake in a pan with butter.

...............Wash your hands.

...............Add the milk slowly and whisk.

...............Get the ingredients.

...............Add toppings and eat.

...............Wash your hands.

...............Crack the eggs into a bowl.

4. Here you have a fun activity to help you better comprehend the sequencing of a story :

Hope you enjoyed it!
