Roald Dahl was sent to a public boarding school when he was only 9 and stayed there until he was 13. He said it was the first adventure of his life. Do you know what a boading school is? A Public school, also called Independent school in the UK , do not correspond to our public schools or State schools, in fact, they are more similar to our private schools where families have to pay a fee. They are independent of the state system in terms of endowment and administration. This type of schools began taking students whose parents could afford residential fees and thus became known as public, in contrast to local, schools back in the 18th century. A very famous public school is Eton College where Prince Harry and Prince William of England did their secondary studies.
