Wake up! It's a new day! ;)
Do you remember Charles Dickens' Hard Times? Well, today we will read a text with the same title. Go to pages 132 and 133 of your books (Citizen Z, _B1). There you will find a very interesting text about how difficult it was to be a child in certain cultures from the past.
But first let's do some pre-reading activities. Do exercises 1-4 on page 132.
For no.3, ask your parents which strict rules they had to follow when they were at school. Explain.
Exercise 5. Now listen to the recording and put a name to each picture (Greek, Aztec or both)
Exercise 6: Listen again while reading. Check out the pronunctiation of words and jot down the new words in your glossary. At least 5 new words.
Write down a sentence next to each word that will make you understand the meaning. Sentences like "X is good" or "I love X" are not valid.
And to finish today's work, do Think Values on page 132 CITIZEN Z B1. The importance of rules. Exercises 1 & 2.
Remember: the extra exercises are as important as the ones from the book, please, don't decide to skip them. Thanks!
