G'morning!

I'm sure you have a favourite subject! Do you?

...One that you enjoy learning new things about, you understand how important it is for life and you are especially good at it. But there's also that subject which you really struggle with, either because you are not that good at it or because, in your opinion, it seems completely unseful. What we know is that we need to have a motivation to learn. And, if you don't have it, you will necessarily have to find one...

Well, you are not the only ones that can't be good at all! Don't feel bad if you hate a subject. I did when I was at school. And you know what? I had to change my mind. Life taught me that, to some extent, everything I was taught at school was useful.

A. Today, you will listen to four University graduates, our four assistants, Brook, Natifah, Katie and Diego, talking about what they really enjoyed at school and the subjects they didn't like at all.

Take notes while listening. Draw a T-chart and fill it in with key ideas.

B. Take the quiz. Write the answers in your notebook.

1. True or False: Brook liked PE/physical education when she was in school.

2. We each explained what we think is the most important school subject. What did we say? Put a tick to those which are mentioned:

A: Math

B: English or your native language

C: History

D: Science

E: A, B and C

3. What was Katie’s favorite subject?

4. Fill in the missing word said by Katie: ” You have to put in a lot of extra _____ to study outside of the classroom.”

5. According to Natifah, what can you do (creatively) to change a subject you dislike into something enjoyable?

A: Create a song

B: Create a game

C: Go for a walk to clear your mind

D: Give yourself short breaks to avoid information overload

E: Listen to music to distract yourself from outside noise

6. True or False: PE and Maths are two subjects Natifah struggled with at school.

7. True or False: Diego’s favorite subject is History

8. What subject did Diego avoid taking in high school?

A: Physics

B: Chemistry

C: Biology

D: Astronomy

E: English

C. Write a 50-word paragraph about something you hated, it doesn't need to be related to subjects, and then you started to like it. Explain what made you change your mind.

Thanks!
