Hands up! Time for revision before going on holiday! Units 5 & 6. Here we go!
PRESENT TENSES:
Present Simple: I study Maths everyday
Present Continuous: I am studying Maths now
Present Perfect: I have studied Maths for 2 hours/ since 4 pm/ every evening.
Present Perfect Continuous: I have been studying English and I'm tired.
THE USE OF WILL:
Will is a modal (remember?? modals are like auxiliary verbs,, they have a grammatical function, for example, they can go before the subject in a question, they can have a negative form too, but add a little meaning to the sentence, this meaning is called modality)
Will is used to talk about certainty.
I think I will study Maths this afternoon.
CONDITIONAL SENTENCES TYPE I, II:
IF CLAUSE CONDITION + MAIN SENTENCE RESULT
Remember we tend to put the if clause before the main clause, at the beginning of the clause, because it matches the principle Cause and Effect.
Type I: If I have time, I will study Maths this afternoon.
Type II: If I had time, I would study Maths this afternoon but I have to go to the doctor.
Type II talks about hypothetical situations. We use the modal verb would, which is used for conditional tenses.
Do exercises 1 and 2 from page 75 and Test Yourself exercises 1-4 from page 76.
You're done!
Congratulations to those who have showed up and have done their homework
every or almost everyday! Send me all your work before tomorrow!
